It is not recommended.  It can cause vitamin deficiencies for you and the baby due to the lack of ability to eat much.  The baby takes from your muscles and bones when it cannot get it from your intake.

Saying that I ended up pregnant 6 months out from my RNY.  I was in a special nutrition program with my hospital and was seen biweekly and had lots of testing done but had a great pregnancy and a perfect baby boy who is now 18 months old.

Not as safe as it would be if it were 12-18 months. People DO go on to have healthy babies, but the risk of you suffering nutrition wise can be the issue.  The baby will take all it needs from you and that can leave you deficient. Ketosis is also harmful to the fetus, so you'll want to add healthy carbs into your diet and stop the weight loss process if possible.  Vitamins, protein, and hydration are key. I got pregnant 6 mos. post op, was 60 lbs from goal (which was half way), and my weight had stablized. Baby was fine, but I suffered Vitamin D and iron deficiencies. I ended up having to have iron infusions because of it.

oh well congrats on your baby.. on the other hand ouch!!! well thats what am afraid of.. I am about  25 lbs away from my goal.. I just have alot of loose skin.. not in excess but compared to other girls that had surgery around the same time and were around my same weight.... I look tiny compared to them... but still I am afraid!!

I too got pregnant too early post-op, about 7 months out.  Try to avoid it if you can!! I am 13 weeks and am having huge struggles keeping my iron up and I am still losing weight...ten pounds since finding out I was pregnant!!  It is difficult....so what's another few months? Take this time for YOU right now!!

It's very hard on mom.

I got pregnant at 13 months postop, and while "okay" I had very severe issues with reactive hypoglycemia.  My 2nd pregnancy was much more stable and was much easier on me.
